Frame: Mobile App Design
For my Senior Capstone, I was inspired to design a social media app that uses art for good and allows the art creation process to be accessible to anyone regardless of creative ability. I wanted to answer the question of “How can we utilize art for social expression and how do I get folks to make art regardless of creative expertise?” The solution was to make it simple, make it a positive experience, and to make it shareable.
art for good
Inspired by activism, mental health awareness, and our news and media outlets. The function of Frame is to provide a place for individuals to create visual commentary in order to positively express their views on current societal issues through art. The concept was born out of identifying social commentary as the issue I wanted to focus on, and then conducting user research to determine how millennial aged users feel about society, how they get their news, and determining a creative solution that would allow people to express their feelings without getting caught up in Twitter storms on social media.
The world can be frustrating, Frame it in a better way
Inspired by a literal picture frame, the app logo is meant to be a modular element that can be separated and flipped to represent a word bubble to encourage commentary.
flexibility and expression are the core values of the brand
The logo depicts a frame around a work of art, can be flipped and filled with text to represent a dialogue bubble, can be duplicated and used to represent an input and output to mimic conversation, and finally can be used as a pattern.
The Fonts

the colors
The colors selected are meant to represent neutrality and balance while also inspiring change and a vigorous sense of energy and inspiration present in these types of conversations.
